Priests
There were multiple different priests in Ancient Egypt. There were the High Priest that advised the Pharaoh and oversaw many religious ceremonies. Temple priest that were in charge of the temples. And lastly priestesses who oversaw temples for music and dance. In the daily life of the priest the most they did was burial practice. In burial practice the priests would watch over the embalming process. The embalming process had many steps.
1st Step; Embalmers removed the bodies organs like brain, liver, and lungs. The only thing left behind was the heart. Organs were then packed in jars to be preserved.
2nd: After 70 days the embalmers washed and oiled the body.
3rd: Then they wrapped it in hundreds of yards of linen.
4th: They then decorated the body with jewelry and protective charms. Often they placed a mask over the head.
5th: Lastly they put a black gooey gum over the body and wrapped it again one last time.
After this process the mummy was ready for burial. The mummy was then but in a wooden box which was then put into a large stone coffin. The coffin was buried along with other items to. The daily life of a priest consisted of watching over the embalming process.
