Peasants
Peasants had the least luxurious daily life. Peasants lived in small mud brick houses with woven rugs as furniture. The peasants food was very simple. Their diet consisted of onions, cucumbers,fish, homemade, bread, and water or beer. Unlike Upper class peasants barely ate. In time a famine they would boil papyrus plants. Most of the time peasants worked on farms, but they did have little time for fun. men played a river game that involve knocking each other off of papyrus rafts. Holidays were also celebrated before harvest and after harvest. They held festivals honoring the Egyptian gods. An important time of the year for peasants was after harvest. As a reward peasants could get all of the leftover grain that they found for food. But if harvest was poor they would be punished. If the peasants didn’t make enough crops to pay taxes they would usually be beaten.
